Electrical Engineer – Power Engineering

Responsibilities:

• Perform and assist with electrical power studies for commercial and industrial facilities.
• Complete engineering analysis involving:
  • Short-circuit calculations.
  • Arc-flash studies
  • Protective-device coordination
  • Load-flow and voltage-drop analysis
  • Motor-starting studies
  • Harmonics and power-quality analysis
• Develop electrical power distribution designs and engineering documentation.
• Prepare and review:
  • One-line diagrams.
  • Electrical riser diagrams.
  • Panel schedules.
  • Load calculations.
  • Protective-device settings.
• Collect electrical system information through field investigations and site visits.
• Analyze field data and power-quality measurements.
• Prepare technical engineering reports and project documentation.
• Review drawings, specifications, calculations, and other engineering information for accuracy.
• Work with Project Managers and other Engineers to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
• Participate in meetings with customers, contractors, Engineers, and internal project teams.
• Assist customers with power system design, installation, startup, troubleshooting, maintenance, and equipment applications.
• Support technical proposals, project scopes, and preliminary pricing.
• Participate in customer presentations and technical training.
• As experience develops, independently manage smaller power studies and engineering projects.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Strong interest in electrical power, power distribution, or electrical construction.
• Coursework, internship experience, or professional experience involving power engineering is preferred.
• Interest in obtaining FE/EIT certification and eventually a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Experience with SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, ETAP, or similar power-analysis software is beneficial but not required for the right entry-level candidate.
• Exposure to arc-flash analysis, short-circuit studies, protective-device coordination, or electrical distribution systems is a plus.
• Familiarity with the NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards, and electrical safety practices is beneficial.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with Engineers, Project Managers, field personnel, contractors, and customers.
